Four Wildcats Named to Academic All-District Team

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson football players Daniel Astrop, Mark Hanabury, Peter Kidwell and Morgan Popham have been named first-team ESPN Academic All-District III by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced today. The quartet advances to the national ballot for ESPN Academic All-America honors.
A senior linebacker, Astrop has started all eight games this season and is third on the team in tackles with 47 to go along with three tackles for loss, a sack, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery. The co-captain has started 18-straight games for the Wildcats and is 18 tackles away from reaching 200 for his career. Astrop has a 3.61 grade point average in economics.
A senior receiver, Hanabury has 15 catches for 129 yards in five games of action as injuries kept him out of the first three contests this season. The co-captain needs 154 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for his career, and he carries a 3.39 grade point average in history.
Kidwell earns the honor for the second straight season and has started all eight games in 2010. The junior defensive back is fourth on the team in tackles with 45 and has an interception, four pass breakups, a blocked kick and 4.5 tackles for loss. He owns a 3.47 grade point average in economics.
Popham has started all eight games this season and has 34 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup. The junior defensive lineman carries a 3.69 grade point average in sociology.
Davidson returns to action with a conference game at Marist, Saturday, Nov. 6. Kickoff is set for noon.
