DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Davidson men's soccer team will look to close the Southern Conference regular season out with a win Tuesday night when the Wildcats host Georgia Southern in Alumni Stadium at 7 p.m.

“In our final SoCon regular season match, we are seeking a passionate, sharp performance,” said head coach Matt Spear. “A strong win can spark momentum for a late season run.”

Fans unable to attend can follow the action via live video and live stats.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson is looking to return to the win column after struggling to find the back of the net in their most recent outings. At 5-5-5, Davidson currently sits sixth in the SoCon with a 1-3-2 conference mark. After dropping their first two conference matches against College of Charleston and Elon, the Wildcats responded with a 3-0 win over Wofford and battled to draws with Furman and UNCG, but dropped their last contest one week ago at Appalachian State, 2-0. Davidson has been strong defensively, earning three straight shutouts against Wofford, Furman and UNCG. Alex Caskey and Mark Millard remain as the team's scoring leaders with five goals and two assists each. Goalkeeper Chip Sanders has a goals against average of 1.20 and a .779 save percentage.

Scouting the Eagles:
Georgia Southern enters with a 3-8-2 overall record and is winless in four SoCon games this season, suffering defeats to Furman, Appalachian State, UNCG and Wofford. Their three wins came over USC Upstate, North Florida and Winthrop, but they have played well against ACC teams. The Eagles dropped a 3-2 decision to NC State earlier in the month and snapped a five-game winless streak with a 1-1 draw last Tuesday with a Clemson team that went on to defeat a nationally-ranked Duke team Friday. Wofford was able to defeat Georgia Southern in their most recent outing Saturday, 1-0. Jon Cox leads the team in scoring with four goals and two assists, while goalkeeper Ryan Platt has a 1.50 goals against average and .762 save percentage.

The Series: Davidson holds an 18-8-1 advantage all-time over Georgia Southern, winning last year's meeting in Statesboro, Ga., 3-0. The Eagles won in double overtime, 2-1, the last time they faced the Wildcats in Alumni Stadium.

Up Next: Davidson will close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches. Prior to the match against Presbyterian Saturday at 7 p.m., the Wildcats will honor seniors Alex Caskey, Yannick Pilgrim, Peter Shelton and Josh Zipin. Davidson will close the regular season Tuesday at 7 pm., hosting ACC foe Wake Forest. The first round of the Southern Conference tournament begins Saturday and Sunday, November 6-7. The Wildcats first round match may not be determined until as late as Tuesday, Nov. 2, the date of the last SoCon regular season match between Wofford and Furman. The 'Cats will not be able to finish in the top half of the eight-team conference, and thus will not host the first round match.
