
Wildcats Wrap Home Stand, Host Ga. Southern Thursday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Wrapping up a three-match home stand, the Davidson Wildcats will host the Georgia Southern Eagles Thursday at 6 p.m. in SoCon volleyball action at Belk Arena.
The All-Time Series
Georgia Southern (15-7, 6-1) leads the all-time series against Davidson (13-11, 4-3) by a margin of 15-19, having won the last five meetings. The Wildcats last defeated the Eagles November 11, 2007, in a 3-1 win at Belk Arena.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson split its decisions over the weekend, defeating Elon, 3-1, Saturday before ending their weekend with a 3-1 loss to UNCG Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats, who go on the road for their next three matches, are sitting at fourth in the South division of the SoCon standings, behind College of Charleston, Georgia Southern and Furman.
Two-time SoCon Player of the Week Sarabeth Peele leads the Wildcat attack, ranking third in the SoCon with 292 kills (3.36 per set). Senior middle blocker Jorden Benedict is also amongst league leaders, ranking eighth with a .312 hitting percentage. She ranks second on the team with 199 kills (2.26/set) and leads the Wildcats with 67 total blocks. Senior setter Hayley Lawson leads the team with 747 assists (8.59/set) to rank fourth in the league, and junior outside hitter Christine Perzinski remains amongst league leaders with a team-high 32 aces (0.36/set). Senior libero Jennifer Chamblee continues to lead the defense with 262 digs (3.20/s).

After losing to College of Charleston Oct. 8, the Eagles have won their last three, sweeping the Citadel, UNC Greensboro, and Elon, to climb into second in the SoCon South division. The Eagles are a perfect 9-0 in Statesboro, but sport an even 3-3 record on the road.
Bethany Sanford paces the Eagle offense, ranking second in the SoCon with 284 kills (3.51/set). Georgia Southern also relies on Parker Small (245 kills, 2.95/set), Hannah Nelson (145 kills, 2.38/set) and Moriah Bellissimo (148 kills, 2.06/set), while Enjoli Johnson ranks fourth in the league with a .340 hitting percentage. Setter Kate Van Dyke leads the league with 888 assists and, at 10.57 per set, is the only setter in the SoCon averaging over 10 assists per set. Libero Ashley Roe ranks fourth in the league with 335 digs (4.04/set).

Mountains this weekend, heading to Boone to face Appalachian State Saturday at 7 p.m. and concluding with a game at Western Carolina Sunday at 3 p.m. After the weekend away, the Wildcats have two straight weekends at Belk Arena in their final home stand of the 2010 season.
