
After Three Road Matches, Volleyball Hosts Elon, UNCG This Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- After three straight matches on the road, the Davidson Wildcats (12-10, 3-2) have a weekend of play at Belk Arena, hosting the Elon Phoenix (13-9, 5-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday, and the UNCG Spartans (16-5, 4-2) at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The All-Time Series
The Wildcats lead the all-time series against Elon, 9-6, and trail Greensboro, 18-24. Both teams defeated Davidson 3-0 last season, but the Wildcats picked up a 3-2 win over Elon in 2008. Davidson's last win over the Spartans was a 3-0 triumph Oct. 27, 2006.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson returns to Belk Arena after a three-match road swing, where the 'Cats went 1-2 with a sweep over The Citadel and losses at Charleston (1-3) and Furman (0-3). The Wildcats also have league wins over Wofford (3-1) and Samford (3-2).
Senior middle blocker Jorden Benedict has moved into the Top 10 in the SoCon in hitting percentage with a .295 clip, while reigning SoCon Player of the Week Sarabeth Peele ranks third in the league in kills with 255 or 3.23 per set. Senior setter Hayley Lawson has climbed to fourth in assists with 648 total (8.20/set), while junior Christine Perzinski ranks fourth in the league with 31 service aces (0.39/set).

Elon (13-9, 5-1 SoCon) is fresh off of a three-game winning streak, earning wins over Furman (3-2), UNCG (3-1) and Western Carolina?(3-1). The Phoenix also have SoCon wins over Samford (3-1)?and Chattanooga (3-0), with their lone league loss coming against Appalachian State (1-3).
Elon has five team members averaging at least two kills per set, with Caroline Lmepke leading the way with 218 kills (2.66 per set). Lempke also leads the team in blocks with 72, followed by Sarah Schermerhorn with 66. Megan McMahon has 660 assists (9.30 per set), and Ali Deatsch paces the defense with 313 digs (3.82 per set).

The?Spartans also split decisions against league opponents the previous weekend, sweeping Appalachian (3-0) and dropping a five-setter against Western Carolina. UNCG swept Samfort and Chattanooga in its opening weekend of conference play.
Ariel Newman leads the team with 192 kills, averaging 2.82 per set, followed by Olivia Humphries (2.20/set, team-best .324 hitting percentage)?and Caley Redden (2.49/set), who both have 167 kills. Kayren Finney has 89 blocks (1.48 per set). Ari Lysacek has 547 sets (7.49 per set), and Kellie Orewiler and Caley Redden pace the defense with 242 and 225 digs, respectively.
