Men's Soccer Ranked Ninth In South By NSCAA

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The strong start to the 2009 season by the Davidson men's soccer team has not gone unnoticed, as the 'Cats were ranked ninth in the South region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.
The Wildcats are 4-1 through five games with wins over USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, Radford and Presbyterian. They will be looking to complete a perfect, three-game road trip Tuesday night at High Point.
“Breaking into the rankings is a testament to our team's strong start,” said head coach Matt Spear. “It's great for us to be back and receive the recognition, but the road ahead will be challenging. We need to continue to improve to maintain our success throughout the season.”
The NSCAA conducts the most widely recognized national and regional soccer ranking system in the country as a service to the general public and its members.
The organization releases polls each week throughout the season.
After Tuesday night's match at High Point, the 'Cats will return to Alumni Stadium on Friday to take on South Carolina at 7 p.m.. South Carolina was ranked fifth in the same poll.
