
Men’s Soccer Announces 2009 Newcomers

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson men's soccer head coach Matt Spear welcomes four student-athletes to the Wildcat program for the upcoming 2009 fall season. The four new additions will help offset the loss of a trio of seniors this past year, and bring a wide array of talents and prior accomplishments to the Wildcat program.
“We are very excited to welcome these four young men to our 2009 team, to our soccer program, and to the College,” said Spear, who is entering his ninth year at the helm of the Wildcats. “They have worked hard and have excelled on and off the field, and are very determined to wear the Davidson jersey with pride. We also welcome their families to our soccer family here at Davidson.”
Brian McGue
Position: Midfielder
Height/Weight: 6-2/165
Hometown: Dublin, Ohio
Club Team: Columbus Crew
High School: Dublin Jerome
Prior to Davidson: Scored 17 goals and dished out nine assists as a senior ... 2007 First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference ... 2008 Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year ... Was named First Team All-District, First Team All-State, and All-Region following senior season ... Led his team to a conference, district, and regional championshp in 2008 ... Went to State Final Four in senior year.
Personal: Son of John and Monica McGue ... Dad John was a swimmer at Bowling Green State University and Uncle Dave McGue was a swimmer for Kenyon College ... Missed entire junior season due to broken ankle ... Graduated as Class Valedictorian and Summa Cum Lade ... Was awarded Academic Excellence award for minimum GPA of 3.7 during his high school career.
Coach Spear: “We identified and evaluated Brian at this past December's US Soccer Development Academy Showcase in Lancaster, Calif. His Columbus Crew team is tremendous, and includes many 'blue chip' teammates - most of whom will be play at NCAA Division I programs – and a coaching staff that is providing a big-time environment. So we know he's in a great situation now to get ready for the college game. Brian has quality attacking attributes, plus his height adds a physical dimension.”

Prior to Davidson: Three-year letterwinner at Wellington High School, where he led the team to the 2007 Class 6A State Finals and was a three-time District Champion ... Named Second Team All-State as a junior ... Member of the 2008 All-Conference team ... NSCAA?Academic All-American honoree following the 2008 season ... Currently competing in senior season, and has scored 19 goals and recorded nine assists in the regular season.
Personal: Son of Kevin and Jo-Ann DiLallo ... Is in the top five percent in his class, having been named to the Honor Roll all four years of high school ... Has two brothers, Marcus and Matt ... Marcus is a defender for the Yale soccer team ... Matt currently plays for the University of Colorado football team ... Father played collegiate baseball.
Coach Spear: “Andrew attended our 2008 Senior Advanced Camp and that solidified what we knew about him as an athlete and as a person. He has a powerful frame and competitive spirit that will enable a smoother transition to the phyical demands of NCAA Division I soccer. He also has very good skills with the ball at his feet, a nose for the goal, and excellent abilities in the air.”

Prior to Davidson: Played four varsity seasons, leading his team to the state semi-finals on two occasions, and state quarterfinals once ... All-County honoree following sophomore season ... 2007 Team MVP, in a sophomore year where he was the top scorer on the squad ... Won two State Championships with his club team, the Concorde Fire ... With the Fire, took home the Atlanta Cup Championship and Norcross Nkie Cup ... Competed as a varsity swimmer during freshman year.
Personal: Son of Jamie Ramsay and Jennifer Brooks ... Has one sister, Allie, and a brother, Paul ... Named to the Principal's list for 12 years ... Georgia Governors Honors Program nominee ... Member of the National Honor Society.
Coach Spear: “George has played the last two seaons with Concorde Fire in the US Soccer Academy system. This has provided him with tremendous training and competition experiences. One of George's best attributes is his competitiveness. He's a fiesty player, that embraces the battle. He's also very versatile as he has spent valuable time at different positions.”

Was named to the 2nd Team All-Ohio squad following his senior season ...Led his team in goals for three consecutive seasons (2006-'08) ... Took part in the Olympic Development Program, competing for the State Team four years, plus Region II team and National Team pool for one year ... Club team won the Ohio South State Cup five seasons (2002-05, 2007) ... 2007 Disney Showcase Champion ... And I know this season with Ohio Elite and all the great matches they are in will further elevate his level of play. We really like Peter's abilities on the ball – he's a crafty, dynamic dribbler and has strong attacking capacities.”
