Wildcats Release 2009 Spring Schedule

DAVIDSON, N.C. - A pair of showcase events and a matchup with the Charlotte Eagles highlight the 2009 Davidson men's soccer spring schedule, as announced today by head coach Matt Spear. The Wildcats will take part in nine contests in the spring, three of which will be held at Alumni Stadium, including a game with English team Pass Four.
“This spring semester is an important phase and an exciting opportunity for Davidson Soccer,” said Spear. “Our underclassmen are determine and the coaches have set up an ambitious, challenging platform for us to improve, accelerate, and establish winning ways.”
Davidson will kick off its spring when they play host to Pfeiffer on Feb. 22 at Alumni Stadium. Then on March 11, they will go up against Pass Four, a showcase team based in England.
On March 22, the 'Cats will travel to High Point, N.C. to compete against Radford and Greensboro College at the Phillips Park Soccer Complex. The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. vs. Radford, then at 1:30 p.m. Davidson will take the field against Greensboro College.
The Wildcats will take part in a pair of mid-week contests when they head back to HIgh Point on April 15 to take on the host High Point University Panthers at 6 p.m., then matching up against Francis Marion in a 7:15 p.m. match.
Rounding out the home portion of the spring schedule, Davidson will take the field against the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League on April 7 at Alumni Stadium, with kick off scheduled for 7 p.m.
A pair of matches against local rivals will close out the spring for the 'Cats. On April 18, Davidson will take on Lee-McRae and Gardner-Webb in a round robin tournament on the campus of Gardner-Webb.
The nine games, which is the highest number that the team has ever played in the spring, provides a number of great match ups against a wide range of opponents, said Spear.
“We are really looking forward to the spring exhibition matches,” he commented. “There is no better way than games to test and measure what we are exerting at the strength center and the training fields.”
