
'Cats Cap Off Home Schedule With Senior Day Game vs. Samford

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Fresh off a thrilling overtime win against Chattanooga on Saturday, the Davidson women's basketball team will play its final home contest on Monday evening when they play host to Samford for Senior Night.
Seniors Mercedes Robinson and Mandy Halbersleben will be suiting up for their final game in Belk Arena and will be honored before the contest.
The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (10-15, 9-7 SoCon) look to close out their final home game of the year with a victory against the Samford Bulldogs (20-4, 15-2 SoCon) on Monday at 7 p.m.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series is one game old, with Samford taking the first contest back on Jan. 19 by the score of 74-65. In that meeting, Robinson tallied a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Alex Thompson and Ashley Lax each went for 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson hit the 10-win mark for the fifth straight year with a thrilling 89-80 overtime win against Chattanooga on Saturday. The win was a big one too, as the Wildcats halted their 20-game losing streak to the Mocs.
•Davidson put six players in double figures in points during the game, led by junior Monica Laune's career-high 20 points. She scored 14 of her 20 in the first half.
•Robinson followed with an 18-point effort, the 13th time in the past 14 games she has scored in double figures. She has led the team in rebounding now 16 straight games (hitting double digits 11 times in that stretch) after a nine-board outing against Chattanooga.
•Robinson is averaging a double-double on the year at 15.6 ppg and 10 rpg.
•Lax (12 points, all on three-pointers) also reached the double-digit mark vs. the Mocs, making it the 10th straight game, a team-best, she has accomplished the feat.
•In picking up the win on Saturday, Davidson shot a season-best 52.4 percent from the floor, including hitting all six of its field goals (three were three-pointers) in overtime along with all four free throws.
•Davidson has owned the paint lately, picking up at least 30 points each game down on the blocks in the last five contests. Saturday saw the Wildcats outscore the Mocs, 40-26, in the paint.
•Lax (56) and Thompson (54) rank second and third, respectively, in the league in made three-pointers. Thompson is in the nation's top-25 in percentage (.417) as of Feb. 12.
•Halbersleben is averaging career bests of 5.5 ppg and 5.7 rpg, and has recorded two double-doubles.
•In the Wildcats' nine home games this year, they are averaging 71.3 ppg, shooting 42.0 percent, including 37.0 percent from three-land, and draining 78.0 percent of their free throws.
•Robinson (16.9 ppg), Lax (14.0) and Thompson (13.9) are all averaging double digits vs. league foes.
Scouting the Bulldogs
•Samford reclaimed a share of first place in the SoCon after the Wildcats' win over Chattanooga by earning its own win, a 59-47 triumph at Appalachian State on Saturday.
•The Bulldogs have won three straight, and 14 of their last 15 contests. Their only setback in that time, a 49-37 loss at UNC Greensboro, Feb. 2.
•Samford sits at 10-3 in road contests this year, including a 7-2 mark in league road games.
•Emily London and Savannah Hill pace the Bulldog offense with 13.1 and 13.0 ppg averages.
•London is coming off Player of the Week honors and has led the team in scoring three straight games, including a 19-point outing at App. State.
•London is leading the league in free throw percentage (90.6) and is second in three-point field goal percentage (45.7).
•The Bulldogs lead the league in scoring defense (51.4 ppg), field goal percentage defense (35.7), three-point field goal percentage defense (24.7).
•As of Feb. 12, Samford led the nation in fewest turnovers per game (12.0) and also ranked third in three-point field goal percentage defense (24.3), third in scoring defense (51.6) and fifth in three-point field goals made per game (8.2).
A Look Ahead
Davidson takes to the road for its final three regular season contests, starting with a trip to Statesboro, Ga. to play Georgia Southern, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
