
Men’s Track Turns in Strong Performance at Carolina Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Led by three runners earning top-ten finishes in the 3,000-meter run, the Davidson men's track team continued their indoor season at the Dick Taylor Carolina Invitational on Friday at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
Senior Thad Sieracki turned in the top Wildcat finish on the day, taking a third-place spot in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:38.30. He was joined in the top ten by classmates Alex Hoyt, whose time of 8:48.46 was good enough for seventh, and Lance Harden in ninth with a mark of 8:49.79
Continuing the 'Cats successes in the distance events, junior Peter Bruton brought home a pair of top-15 performances, including seventh in the mile run, tripping the tape in 4:24.33. Fellow junior Blake Evitt also earned a spot in the top-ten with his 4:25.88 mile and ninth-place finish.
On the field, senior Will Funderburg broke the 14-meter mark for the first time this season in the shot put, recording a top distance of 14.10 meters, placing him in seventh place in the event. Sophomore Bryce Jones set a new career-high height in the pole vault with his eighth place jump of 4.00 meters.
In their final tune-up before the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, the Wildcat men will travel to Clemson, S.C., the site of the conference championship meet, on Feb. 21 to compete in the Tiger Invitational hosted by Clemson University.
