DAVIDSON, N.C. — Playing the second of three straight home games to close out their home schedule, the Davidson women's basketball team will host Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon as part of their WBCA Pink Zone Day game.
The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (9-15, 8-7 SoCon) look to halt their three-game home skid with a 2 p.m. contest against the Chattanooga Mocs (19-6, 15-1 SoCon) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series is 25-7 in favor of the Mocs, who have taking the last 20 straight decisions against the Wildcats.
In the last meeting between the two schools, Davidson suffered a 76-69 setback in Chattanooga back on Jan. 17.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson (9-15, 8-7 SoCon) returned home last Monday, but could not find the winning touch on its home court, falling by the count of 74-61 to UNC Greensboro. It was the fourth season-series split for the 'Cats, who had defeated UNCG, 61-55, earlier this year.
•The Wildcats fell to 5-4 at home, the most losses at John M. Belk Arena since the 2005-06 team went 8-4. The setback was also the 'Cats third straight at home, its longest home skid since 2002-03.
•Davidson did put at least three players in the books in double figures for the 12th game in a row with Mercedes Robinson and Ashley Lax leading the way with 13 points apiece.
•Robinson closed two rebounds shy of her career-high with 15 for her career-high tying 14th double-double, and fifth in the last six games.
•The senior has also scored in double figures in 12 of the past 13 games, getting 10 of her 14 double-doubles on the year during that stretch.
•Though the Wildcats' two leading scorers paced the team, the duo shot just 9-of-32 combined from the floor, while Davidson was held to 37.9 percent in the game.
•Lax's double-digit game was her ninth straight, a team-best, and has scored 15 or more points four times during that stretch, including a career-high tying 24 points at Chattanooga, Jan. 17.
•Alex Thompson and Lax rank first and third in the SoCon in made three-pointers with 53 and 52.
•As of Feb. 8, Thompson (.437) and Lax (.419) are 13th and 26th in the nation in three-point percentage.
•With her 15 rebounds, Robinson, who has 723 career boards and is currently in third place all-time, has led the team in rebounding now 15 straight games, going for double digits in 11 of them.
•Robinson is averaging a double-double on the year at 15.5 ppg and 10.1 rpg.
•In the Wildcats' nine home games this year, they are averaging 69.3 ppg, shooting 40.9 percent, including 35.6 percent from three-land, and draining 80 percent of their free throws.
•Robinson (16.2 ppg), Lax (15), Thompson (11) and Julia Paquette (11) are all averaging double digits at home.
•For the 3rd straight game, Davidson tallied at least 10 steals in a contest with 13 vs. UNCG on Monday.
•Davidson is seeking to halt a 20-game losing streak to the Mocs that dates back to Jan. 24, 2000.
•In their first meeting, the Wildcats dropped a 76-69 decision, despite placing three players in double figures in points.
Scouting the Mocs
•Chattanooga (19-6, 15-1 SoCon) continues to lead the conference after picking up its 10th win in a row with a 72-61 victory over College of Charleston on Monday.
•The Mocs have not dropped a contest since losing to Georgia Southern by one point back on Jan. 3.
•Chattanooga sits at 6-3 in road contests this year, with all six wins coming in league games.
•Erin Ogan led the Mocs on Monday with a double-double, her fifth of the season, on a career-high 18 points and 12 rebounds.
•Shanara Hollinquest leads the Moc attack with a SoCon-best 16.7 ppg average. She tallied 35 points in her last outing vs. the Wildcats, tying the league high this year with Alex Thompson.
•Hollinquest also ranks 1st in the league in field goal percentage (.546) and 2nd in rebounds per game at 8.3.
•Chattanooga as a team is first in points per game at 69.5, while allowing the second-fewest at 57.4.
•The Mocs have attempted a league-best 542 three-pointers, hitting 185 of them (.341).
•Jenaya Wade-Fray and Ogan are the Mocs other two double-figure scorers at 12.1 and 11.8 ppg.
