DAVIDSON, N.C. — Winners of four of its last five games, Davidson wraps up a four-game homestand when it hosts UNC Greensboro on Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena.
The Opening Tip
Davidson (4-7, 3-1 SoCon) opens up the New Year by playing UNC Greensboro (5-7, 2-2 SoCon) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a Southern Conference tilt.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series is 27-11 in favor of UNC Greensboro. The Wildcats have won four of the last six meetings after the two teams split last year's two-game series.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson earned its eighth straight winning month of December by closing out 2009 with a 64-55 victory over Newberry College in its latest game. They were coming off a 16-day layoff.
•The 'Cats, picking up their first non-conference win of the season, have won four of their past five games overall, including three of their first four Southern Conference games to start the year.
•Freshman Sophia Aleksandravicius tallied her third double-double, and second in the last three games, with a game-high 22 points, the second straight game she has eclipsed the 20-point mark. She added 10 rebounds and swatted away a season-high five shots, one away from tying the single-game school record.
•The forward scored 12 of her 22 points in the second half, including 11 of them in the first eight minutes to start the new half.
•It was the fourth time in the last five games she has led the team in points and rebounds. •During that time, the freshman is averaging a double-double at 20.6 ppg and 10.0 rpg. She is also averaging a double-double in the 'Cats first three home games (22.5 ppg & 12.5 rpg).
•Alex Thompson (12) and Kristen Johnsen (13) teamed with Aleksandravicius to give Davidson three double-figure scorers in the win over Newberry.
•It was Thompson's eight double figures game of the season, while Johnsen's 13 points were a new career-high as was her nine rebounds.
•Freshman Katrin Chiemeka, in her first collegiate game after missing the first half of the season, knocked down her first shot attempt, a three-pointer in the first half.
•Starting back on Dec. 7 and then finishing Jan. 11, Davidson is in the midst of playing seven of its nine games during that stretch at home.
•The 'Cats are 2-1 at home this year and have gone 28-10 the last four years.
•In the last five games, four of them wins, Davidson is outscoring the opposition 71-64 and shooting 45 percent from the floor, while holding its opponents to 39 percent.
•Coach Watts (ninth season) is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 134-113 record.
•This will be the Wildcats' 39th meeting with UNC Greensboro in the all-time series. The two teams split their two games last season, each winning the road game.
•Last time out vs. UNCG (2/9), the Wildcats dropped a 74-61 decision at home despite Mercedes Robinson registering her 14th double-double of the season. The loss snapped the Wildcats' three-game winning streak in the all-time series.
Scouting the Spartans
•UNC Greensboro enters Saturday's game winners of four of its last five contests, including back-to-back SoCon wins over Samford and Georgia Southern.
•Like the Wildcats, the Spartans closed out 2009 with a win, earning a 45-42 victory over the GSU Eagles to even its SoCon record at 2-2.
•UNCG trailed 35-26 before going on a 19-7 run to end the game for the three-point win.
•Kendra Smith led the Spartans with 12 points, while Lakiah Hyson had a team-best seven rebounds.

•Hyson netted 15 points last time out vs. Davidson.
•UNCG returns 11 of its 14 letterwinners, including three of its five starters, from last season's 13-18 team (9-11 SoCon).
