Wildcats Return to Pool, Open Competition at Nike Invitational

GAMBIER, OHIO -- After a three-week break, the Davidson Wildcats swimming and diving team opened competition at the Nike Invitational at Kenyon College, with the 800 freestyle relays and the 1650 freestyle contested Thursday night at the KAC Natatorium.
The Wildcat women's team of Lauren Kamperman, Lindsey Martin, Anna Stringfield and Lillie Seifart finished third with a time of 7:27.80, while the men's team of Curtis Chaney, Drew Onken, Tennant Brastow and Geoffrey Peitz placed 10th with a time of 6:56.32.
In the 1650 freestyle, Jessica Delgehausen was the top finisher, placing sixth with a time of 17:25. Caitlin Sheetz and Meagan Madden also competed for the Davidson women in the event. Sheetz finished 11th with a time of 17:42.82, and Madden was 19th with a time of 18:35.40.
For the Wildcat men, David Kerman finished with a time of 16:44.76 in 17th place, and Chris Leonard was 19th with a time of 18:40.56.
After four events, the Wildcat women are in third place with 69 points, behind the University of Pennsylvania (196) and Kenyon College (89). Carnegia Mellon is in fourth place with 48 points.
On the men's side, the Wildcats are in fourth place with 37 points, behind Penn (199), Kenyon (83) and Carnegie Mellon (78.5). John Hopkins is in fifth place with 18 points.
Competition at the Nike Invite continues tomorrow and concludes Saturday.
