Wildcats Look to Close Homestand Perfect, Play Host to CofC on Thursday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team wraps up their three-game homestand with a contest against first place College of Charleston on Thursday evening as the 'Cats will be seeking their third straight win.
The Matchup
Davidson, seeking to finish its three-game homestand perfect after picking wins over UNCG and Elon last weekend, plays host to College of Charleston on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
The All-Time Series
Davidson holds a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1993. Three of the last five contests have seen both teams force overtime, including the last two years, with the 'Cats taking a 2-1 double-overtime decision in 2007 and the Cougars taking last year's 1-0 extra period win at home.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (5-8-0, 2-2-0 SoCon) started its month of October off on a solid note, winning back-to-back contests over two teams who were on a roll as of late and halted its own four-match losing streak ... the 'Cats became the first team in 33 SoCon regular season tries to take down UNC Greensboro, earning a 2-1 decision last Friday ... UNCG had been 31-0-2 over the past three years in league games ... then on Sunday, Davidson spoiled Elon's best start in league play and its five-match win streak with a 2-0 shutout win ... the shutout was the 'Cats third of the year ... they evened their SoCon mark to 2-2 on the season and sit in a tie for fourth ... Lauren Conner netted her sixth career game-winner last Friday vs. Spartans, while Blakely Low netted her team-high fourth goal in the win over Elon ... Kyri Bye-Nagel tallied a goal and an assist last weekend to push her team-leading point total to nine points (3 G, 2 A) ... 10 other Wildcats' have also found the back of the net this year ... Jessie Baxa tallied the two wins in goal last weekend ... she is 3-4 in seven starts with a team-best 27 saves between the pipes ... Davidson is second in the league in shots (166) and fifth in goals (19) ... the Wildcats own a 3-2 home mark this year and have gone 22-9-2 over the last four years.
Scouting the Cougars
CofC (7-4-1, 3-1-0 SoCon) is tied for first in the league with a 3-1 mark and has won five of its last six games ... during a five-game win streak, which ended last Sunday, the Cougars outscored its opponents 11-0 ... they sit at 3-3 in road games and Thursday's contest at Davidson will conclude a three-match road swing ... CofC sits right below Davidson in total goals (17) ... five Cougars have scored multiple goals, led by Annie Pease's four ... Hannah Gmerek is leading the team in points (9) with three goals and three assists ... goalkeeper Sarah Wiggers is sixth in the conference with a 0.94 goals against average ... she has started eight of the 12 games played, tallying 34 saves and a 6-3-0 record ... earlier this season, CofC captured the High Point Invitational ... the Cougars return 17 letterwinners from last year's 12-5-4 team.

The 'Cats will play at The Citadel this weekend, Oct. 11, for a 2 p.m. contest. Davidson has an 8-0-0 unbeaten mark against the Bulldogs in the all-time series.
