DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team will look to close out the regular season in winning fashion when they play host to Georgia Southern in a Southern Conference match at Alumni Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Matchup
Riding a five-game unbeaten streak, Davidson will play host to Georgia Southern in its final regular season game on Saturday, Oct. 31. Prior to the game, the Wildcats will honor their eight seniors.
The All-Time Series
Davidson holds an eight-game advantage over the Eagles in the all-time series, leading 16-8. The 'Cats have scored wins in four of the last five meetings, including a 2-1 overtime victory last year.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (9-9-1, 6-3-1 SoCon) continues to roll along, riding a five-game unbeaten streak after going 1-0-1 last weekend at Chattanooga and Samford ... since dropping four straight in mid-September, Davidson is 6-1-1 in its last eight games ... the Wildcats sit in fifth place in the league standings, one spot away from making the SoCon Tournament ... senior Kyri Bye-Nagel led Davidson to a 4-2 win at Chattanooga with her second career hat trick, scoring her third goal and the game-winner in the 56th minute ... she has eight game winners for her career ... the forward striker leads the team with 18 points on seven goals and a team-high four assists ... fellow senior Blakely Low is next with 15 points (career-high 7 Gls./1 Ast.) ... they both rank in the top-five in goals and top-10 in points in the SoCon ... Allison Drutchas coverted the Wildcats first penalty kick since 2006 with a PK goal at Chattanooga ... Davidson is tops in the league in shots with 278 and second with 30 goals ... half of their goals have come against SoCon foes this year ... six players have two or more goals on the season ... last year's contest vs. the Eagles saw Suzanne Sittko strike for the game-winner in the 97th minute of overtime ... Callan Elswick set up the two goals in the 2-1 win last year ... she tallied her second career two-assist game last weekend at Chattanooga ... the junior midfielder has a career-best seven points on two goals and three assists ... goalkeepers Loring Ward and Jessie Baxa have spilt time in goal, starting nine and 10 games each, respectively ... They have combined for 66 saves and a 1.61 goals against average.
Scouting the Eagles
GSU (1-16-0, 1-9-0 SoCon) is coming off a 1-0 overtime loss at Chattanooga last Sunday ... the Eagles are finishing out the season on the road for their final three games ... they are 0-9 away from home ... their lone win on the season came back on Oct. 18 when they scored a 3-2 win over Wofford for Senior Day ... Michelle Carlson kicked in the game-winner for her only goal of the season ... the win snapped a 14-match losing streak to open the season ... Ga. Southern has scored just seven goals on the year ... leading the team is Sara Oland with two goals and an assist for five points ... between the pipes is Lauren Santos, who has started 11 of 12 games, registering 57 saves ... GSU brought back 12 letterwinners from last season's 4-11-3 team, with eight of them being starters.
