Wildcats Win 11 Individual Titles but Lose Dual Meet Competition Saturday at Emory

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcat men's and women's swimming teams combined for 11 individual titles, but lost the dual meet to the Emory Eagles Saturday afternoon at the Emory Natatorium.
The Emory men defeated the Wildcats 169-106, and the Wildcat women dropped a 130-164 decision.
Sophomore Geoffrey Peitz and freshman Drew Onken won a pair of titles to lead the Wildcat men.
"Geoff was great today," head coach John Young said. "And Drew bounced back from his first collegiate defeat with two impressive season bests."
Peitz swept the backstroke events, winning the 100 back with a time of 52.95 and finishing first in the 200 with a season-best time of 1:54.53.
Onken was a double-event winner behind his best times of the season. He won the 200 breast in 2:07.06 and turned in the top time in the 200 IM as well, finishing in 1:55.29.
Sophomore Curtis Chaney was also an individual winner for the Wildcat men, with a season-best time of 47.74 in the 100 freestyle.
Junior Lindsey Martin continued her winning ways, sweeping the sprint freestyles and remaining undefeated. She won the 50 free with a time of 24.06 and completed the sweep with a season-best time of 51.97 in the 100.
Classmate Emily Castle also remained undefeated in the 100 fly, winning the event with a time of 56.90, and freshman Allison Cottle picked up her first individual title with a winning time of 2:09.65, bettering her own team best in the 200 fly.
"Lindsey and Emily were impressive as usual," Young said. "And Allison Cottle had some great swims and great finishes today."
Sophomore Lauren Kamperman was also an individual winner, touching first in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:11.36, and senior Kelsey Chisholm placed first on the 3-meter dive with a score of 235.65.
The Wildcats will return to Cannon Natatorium Friday when they host William & Mary at 5 p.m.
