DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcat volleyball team will join with over 800 high school and college teams across the country to participate in the Dig Pink campaign to support the Side-Out Foundation, when they host the Western Carolina Catamounts at 7 p.m. Friday night at Belk Arena.
In addition to soliciting pledges, either per dig or in a flat donation, Davidson volleyball players and coaches will be selling Dig Pink T-shirts and hosting a silent auction Friday night, with auction items including a Stephen Curry autographed jersey and a session of volleyball day camp, among others.
To make a donation, download Dig Pink Donation Form (PDF), or to donate online by credit card, visit the Side-Out Foundation Team Page.
During the match, Davidson will host a silent auction Friday night, with auction items including a Stephen Curry autographed jersey, a 2-hour lake cruise, designer sunglasses, two tickets to Forbidden Farms, spa packages, a session of volleyball day camp and a team autographed volleyball, among others. There will also be a raffle for a Stephen Curry autographed basketball, and Monkee's of Lake Norman will be giving away 50 pairs of free earrings.
The team will also be selling Dig Pink T-shirts for $20 for non-students and $15 for students. T-shirts will be on sale on campus in the Alvarez College Union all week, from noon-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on the Atrium level. Students who wear their Dig Pink T-shirt to the match on Friday will receive Triple Wildcat Pride Points.
All donations are tax deductible. In conjunction with The Side Out Foundation, proceeds will go towards doing something significant and identifiable in the fight against Breast Cancer.
Davidson's Dig Pink event is being sponsored by LKNSavings.com. Dig Pink is a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally with events held across the country this October to raise awareness and funds. With a total of 855 high school and college teams participating, the event is aiming to raise $700,000 in 2009.
