
Chaney and Lane Receive Weekly CCSA Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After leading the Davidson men's swimming and diving to a victory over CCSA-foe Gardner-Webb Saturday afternoon, freshman Curtis Chaney and freshman Ben Lane have been selected as the CCSA Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week respectively, for meets competed Jan. 19-25, as announced today by the league office.
Chaney had an outstanding performance last week, winning a pair of individual events to help the Wildcat men to a CCSA victory over Gardner-Webb. On Senior Day in Cannon Natatorium, he won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.33 and the 100 free with a time of 48.06. He also finished fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.73. It is the first career weekly honor for Chaney and the fifth for a male Davidson swimmer this season. Nate Ladner took the honor for the week of Oct. 29 and Dec. 9, and Geoff Peitz (Nov. 6) and Merritt Peele (Jan. 14) have each won the award once.
Lane was named the CCSA Men's Diver of the Week for the fifth time this season, after resetting his college record on the 3-meter board with a zone-qualifying diving score of 342.75 points. He also won the 1-meter with a score of 277.73. Lane last received the honor for his performances against South Carolina and Duke, and also received the honor for the weeks of Nov. 6, Nov. 12, Nov. 25 and Jan. 14.
