BOX SCORE

DAVIDSON, N.C. –– Senior Emily Palmer (Columbus, Ohio) had a breakout game with a career-high tying four goals and sophomore Jen Crawford (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) assisted on two of them on her way to a season-high three assists in leading the Davidson women's lacrosse team to a 17-3 victory over Pfeiffer on Wednesday evening at Richardson Stadium.

Davidson, who won its fourth straight and seventh in its past eight contests, pushed its home mark to 6-3 and ran its overall record to 8-3 overall. The Falcons dropped to an even 6-6 on the season.

Palmer led seven Wildcat players with her season-high four goals to move her season total to 12 and give her eight goals in the last four contests. Right behind the senior was her fellow classmate Emily Diefendorf (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) with three goals, and matching Diefendorf with three scores was sophomore Haley Cook (Darien, Conn.), who also tacked on an assist for four points. Cook was also active on the defensive end with three caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Crawford led the Wildcats with five points as she added two goals to her game-high three assists. The three assists were Crawford's first of the season and tied her with Cook for the most points on the team at 30.

Also chipping in with two goals each was junior Becky Horton (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and senior Sarah Walter (Queenstown, Md.). Freshman Danielle Ruggieri (Barrington, R.I.) scored her first collegiate goal in the final seconds of the game to finish off the scoring for the Wildcats.

Davidson led from the get-go as Diefendorf started the scoring with a goal at the 28:56 mark of the first half. A Horton goal five minutes later and back-to-back goals by Walter, one of them on a free-position shot, gave the Wildcats a quick 4-0 lead. The 'Cats finished 6-of-10 on free-position shots.

Besides her two goals, Walter earned four draw controls, two groundballs and two forced turnovers.

Pfeiffer's Heidi Karaszkiewicz broke up the shutout with a strike to the back of the net at the 19:40 mark to bring the Falcons within three.

The three-goal lead would be increased to seven (8-1) on Palmer's first goal of the game, and Davidson headed into halftime up 9-2 after Elie Fenton scored the Falcons' second goal before intermission.

It was all Davidson in the second half, outscoring Pfeiffer 8-1 for the 17-3 victory. Palmer and Cook combined to score six of the eight goals.

Senior Laura Johnson (Baldwin, Md.) and sophomore Michelle Pav (Golden, Colo.) combined for nine saves in the winning effort.

Junior Jennifer Drew Lindsey (Davidson, N.C.) had a nice game defensively with five groundballs on five caused turnovers. She is one of four 'Cats with over 10 caused turnovers.

Davidson will wrap up its six-game homestand with a contest against Presbyterian on Apr. 8 at 7 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
