CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Senior Megal Atias set a new school record with a first-place finish in the steeplechase, as the Wildcat women's track and field team competed at the Tony Waldrop Invitational on the campus of the University of North Carolina this weekend.
Atias won the steeplechase with a time of 11:22.31, besting the previous Davidson-best time of 11:31.83 set by Anna Brew in 2003.
Junior Kim Colley had a pair of strong performances in the sprints, finishing 12th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.94 and 20th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.30. Senior Amaka Obidegwu finished 23rd with a time of 1:00.07 in the 400 meters.
In the distance events, junior Caroline Sanker turned in the team's top time in the 1500 meters, finishing 14th with a time of 4:51.42. Junior Emily King finished fourth in the 3000 meters (10:56.22), and freshman Heather Conarroe was just behind in sixth (10:57.60).
In the field events, junior Kennesia Martin placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.27 meters (36-11.75).
The Wildcat women will return to action, as they host the Irwin Belk Invitational on Sat. April 19.
