Over 175 student-athletes from 11 schools and numerous more unaffiliated wrestlers will compete in the tournament, including fellow SoCon members Appalachian State, The Citadel UNC?Greensboro and VMI, as well as perennial ACC powers Virginia Tech, N.C. State, and Duke.
After bringing home a runner-up finish at the Keystone Classic, senior Sam O'Hair received a No. 32 national ranking in the 184-pound weight class. The Alexandria, Va. native picked up three wins at the tournament, and has recorded a 5-4 record on the season, including a team-leading nine points with one pin.
Also coming off a strong performance in his last competition is junior Ben Altman, who, after dropping his opening-round match, came back with six-straight victories to win third place at 125. He also has six points overall, with a 2-3 dual record.
Leading the team with a pair of pins on the year, both of which came at the Keystone Classic, is junior Carl Sandercock. Also with three wins is sophomore Alex Radsky, who also is second on the team with eight points recorded. His twin brother Vitaly is tied with O'Hair for the point lead with nine, coming via a pair of wins, including one pin.
Following the Davidson Open, the 'Cats will compete in a pair of meets to close out month.
