Martin, Lane and Buttermore Nab Weekly CCSA Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After helping the Davidson men's and women's swimming and diving teams to first-place team finishes at the Davidson Invitational, sophomore Lindsey Martin was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, and junior Linnea Buttermore and freshman Ben Lane swept the weekly diving awards, for meets competed Nov. 17-23, as announced by the conference today.
Martin had an outstanding performance last week, medaling first place in three individual events and contributing to a pair of first-place relays to help the Wildcats win the eight-team field Davidson Invitational over the weekend. She finished first in the 200 free, breaking her own Davidson record in the event with a time of 1:52.89, and set a meet record in the 100 free with a time of 51.55, both best times in the CCSA this season. She also won the 50 free with a time of 23.71, just under her own top time in the CCSA. Martin also swam on the winning 4x200 free relay and 4x50 free relay teams, setting a Davidson Invitational record, and was a member of the runner-up 4x50 medley relay. It is the first weekly honor for Martin this season.
Buttermore and Lane grabbed their third weekly honors, each being named CCSA Divers of the Week after dual-meets with Emory and William & Mary.
Buttermore took first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 227.25 and was runner-up in the 1-meter dive with 236.85 points. She notched a third-place spot in the conference standings this season.
Lane won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events to help the Davidson Wildcats win the Davidson Invitational over the weekend. His scores of 270.95 (1-meter) and 304.10 (3-meter) are a personal second-best scores so far this season.
College of Charleston freshman Matthew Sherrier was selected as the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week. Also nominated for men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week: Jeff Jankowski (Diver, College of Charleston), Geoffrey Peitz (Swimmer, Davidson) and Patrick Elerding (Swimmer, Gardner-Webb)
Also nominated for women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week: Sara Gardocki (College of Charleston), Rosy Murray (Florida Gulf Coast), Rachel Warkentin (Gardner-Webb), Ali Campbell (Georgia Southern), Nikki Hutchison (Georgia Southern) and Alexis Butner (Radford).
