SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Davidson Wildcat women's cross country team finished fifth at the 2008 Southern Conference Championships Saturday morning at Milliken Park, behind the All-SoCon performance of senior Caroline Sanker.
Sanker finished eighth overall in a time of 18:13.89 to earn All-SoCon honors for a third straight season.
Furnan's Megan Lordi won the individual title on the women's side with a time of 17:22.03, but with three runners in the top 11, Chattanooga won the women's title with a total team time of 1:32.23 and 60 points. The Mocs just edged newcomer Samford, who finished two points behind, and Lordi's Paladins, who placed third with 77 points. Appalachian State amassed 93 points, followed by the Wildcats with 127.
Classmates Lauren Childs and Danielle Ruggieri crossed the line 21st and 22nd with times of 18:50.21 and 18:50.52, respectively.
Sophomore Heather Conarroe finished 31st overall with a time of 19:02.04, and senior Emily King completed the scoring for the 'Cats, coming in at 45th with a time of 19:19.40.
