Sanker Named SoCon Runner of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After helping the Wildcats to an 11th-place finish at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic this weekend, junior Caroline Sanker has been named the Southern Conference women's runner of the week, as voted on by the conference head cross country coaches, the league office announced Wednesday.
Sanker finished 15th overall with a time of 17:50, leading the Wildcats to an 11th place finish in a field of 31 teams that included 10 teams that are ranked either nationally or regionally.
“Caroline continues to get stronger each week, and I look forward to seeing her run at the conference championship,” head coach Jen Straub said. “It will be a great race up front, and I suspect Caroline will be right in the mix!”
Also nominated for this week's award were Samford's Hillary Neal, Elon's Emily Fournier and Appalachian State's Meg Gaffney.
