DAVIDSON, N.C. — For a third time this season, junior Scott Frantz has been selected CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week, for meets competed Jan. 14-20, as announced today by the league office.
Frantz won the 100 back in the Wildcats' meet with Clemson on Thursday with a time of 53.84. He leads all CCSA swimmers in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke.
He picked up his first weekly honor after winning a pair of titles against East Carolina. Against the Pirates, he finished first in the 100 backstroke (53.05) and earned another first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:56.89).
He garnered his second weekly award after an impressive showing at the Nike Invitational at Kenyon College. He earned Super Final appearances in both backstroke events, matching his school record in the 100 back with a runner-up finish (50.53), and he turned in a season-best time (21.60) in the 50 free and a time of 47.03 in the consolation final of the 100 free. He also swam leadoff on three record-setting relays and led off a fourth with a 100 backstroke split that lowered his college record.
The Wildcats will celebrate senior day at their final home meet of the season, when they take on UNC Wilmington and Campbell at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Cannon Natatorium.
