Davidson looks to turn its recent misfortunes around when the Wildcats play host to College of Charleston and The Citadel on Friday and Saturday in Southern Conference volleyball action.
The Matchup
Davidson (5-10, 0-2 SoCon) first plays the Cougars (8-5, 3-0 SoCon) on Friday night at 7 p.m. Following that contest, The Citadel Bulldogs (2-13, 0-4 SoCon) visit Belk Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The All-Time Series
Charleston has a 18-9 lead in the series matchup with Davidson and has captured the last 13 matches. The Wildcats, though, have taken 16 of their 17 matches against The Citadel for a 16-1 series lead.
Scouting Davidson
After starting the year out 5-2, the Wildcats have hit a bit of a slide — dropping their last eight matches, seven by the score of 3-0.
Davidson is coming off an 0-2 trip to Western Carolina and Chattanooga last weekend in its first SoCon action of the season. Junior Kittery Neale led the hitting attack with a combined 21 kills.
On the season, senior Katie Pierucci and freshman Sarabeth Peele continue to pace the offense with 137 and 157 kills, respectively. Peele's average of 3.65 kills per game, ranks sixth in the league. Pierucci has a team-best 25 aces and is second on the team with 179 digs, placing her seventh in the league.
Freshman setter Hayley Lawson is seventh in the SoCon with an average of 9.46 assists per game, having totaled 473 in 13 matches.
Scouting CofC
The Cougars enter Friday's match with a perfect 3-0 record in league play after 3-1 and 3-0 home wins over UNC Greensboro and Elon. CofC had three hitters with at least 10 kills in each match and finished with hitting percentages of .280 vs. UNCG and .371 against Elon.
Charleston leads the SoCon with a hitting percentage of .249 and 741 kills through 44 games.
Three Cougars are in the top-10 in hitting percentage, led by Lindsey Kane at a .396 click (75 kills on 154 swings).
