DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball game on Sunday against the nationally ranked Georgia Bulldogs can be heard on teamline at 2:30 p.m. as Derek Smith, who begins his fourth season as the voice of the Wildcat women's basketball team, will call action and former Wildcat great Tia Washington will be doing the color.
Davidson, who carries a 5-2 record through its first seven games for the second straight season, will be looking for its fourth straight win when it travels to Georgia on Sunday. The 'Cats are riding a three-game winning streak after completing a 3-0 homestand.
The Wildcats latest triumph was their biggest of the season when they scored a 79-61 win over East Tennessee State on Thursday. The win was their fifth straight at home and fourth straight vs. ETSU.
The Lady Bulldogs are off to an 8-0 start, their sixth-best opening to a season ever. Georgia, who remained ranked No. 7 and No. 8 in the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN polls, is coming off a 71-64 win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 2. The win over the Yellow Jackets was Georgia's 28th in the past 30 meetings.
Three-time All-America Tasha Humphrey led the charge against Tech with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Humphrey leads the Lady Bulldogs with a 16.9 points per game average and hauls in almost ten boards a game (9.8 rpg). The double-double against the Yellow Jackets was her fifth straight, matching her longest such streak which happened during her sophomore campaign. Humphrey has paced the team in scoring six times this season.
After its game against Georgia, Davidson returns home for a non-conference tilt against High Point on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
