DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Robby Hoak of the Davidson College men's soccer team has been named to the SoCon's All-Conference second team as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
“Robby has been a consistent starter and integral fixture of our team for four straight years,” commented Davidson head coach Matt Spear. “He is a team-voted Captain, so he's highly respected with our players.”
A senior defender / forward from Raleigh, N.C., Hoak has recorded 19 goals, seven assists and 45 total points in a Wildcat uniform.
Limited to just 15 games this season, the co-captain still leads the club in scoring with five goals and one assist for total of 11 points.
“I am thankful that the other head coaches recognized his career and his leadership this season.”
The only Wildcat to start all 19 matches a year ago, Hoak set up goals in wins over Loyola and Radford during the 'Cats' three-game winning streak early in the campaign.
During his sophomore season, Hoak ranked among the conference leaders in points, goals and goals per game. That year, he tallied eight goals including a pair of game-winners against league opponents and three assists.
“I commend Robby for his career, and for the fact that he's proven he can play both defender and forward at a high level.”
Hoak and the Wildcats will travel to UNC Greensboro Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff in the opening round of the 2007 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.
