Neither team was able to jump out in front to open the match, as the 'Cats and Spartans traded possessions until late in the first game. The score was tied as late as 21-21, when Greensboro used a four-point serve from Lisa Fawell to take a slight 24-21 lead. The Wildcats took a quick timeout, but the Spartans went 5-3 to close out the game and preserve the 30-24 win.
The second game stayed even in the beginning until, with Davidson trailing just 15-13, the Spartans started to pull away. Greensboro got three kills from Nortz in the midst of a 6-2 run to take a 21-15 lead and force the Wildcats into a timeout. Peele and freshman middle blocker Jorden Benedict got a pair back for the 'Cats after the pause, but the Spartans would not be overcome, taking a 2-0 lead in the match with a 30-22 win in the second game.
The third game was no exception, with both teams battling for every point and trading possessions for the first third of the game. This time, though, with the 'Cats holding a 17-15 lead, the 'Cats used a 6-2 run to pull ahead, 23-16 and force the Spartans to take a break. Davidson continued to hold the lead, as a putaway from Peele pushed the 'Cats up 27-22, but the Spartans pulled off the comeback. Keiser's 10th kill gave the possession back to Greensboro, and she rattled off a five-point serve to knot the score at 28. Back-to-back kills from Fuller put the match away with the 30-28 win.
Davidson will wrap up the regular season next weekend, as it travels to Appalachian for a 7 p.m. match in Boone, N.C. on Fri., Nov. 9. The 'Cats will host Georgia Southern in their final regular-season game on Senior Day at Belk Arena at 2 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 11.
