
Wildcat Women's Hoops to Broadcast 14 Games

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- A total of 14 Davidson women's basketball games during the 2007-08 regular season - beginning with its game against cross-county rival Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 24 - will be broadcast this season.
Derek Smith begins his fourth season as the voice of the Wildcat women's basketball team and will call all the women's action in 2007-08. Smith, a former member of the sports information staff at Davidson College, has covered women's basketball in the Carolinas since 1999.
Assisting Smith this year will be Tia Washington, who will do the color analysis. Washington, a 2007 graduate from Davidson, finished her four-year playing career as one of the top point guards in program history. She ranks in the top-15 of the record books in five offensive categories, including tied for second with 317 assists. Washington was honored with the Davidson Rebecca E. Stimson Award as Davidson's most valuable female student-athlete in 2006-07.
The slate of games consists of all 12 games at Davidson's John M. Belk Arena as well as the Charlotte game and the game at the University of Georgia on December 8. In addition to the 14 regular-season games, any Southern Conference Tournament games the Wildcats play in will also be broadcast.

Davidson has a few days off for the Thanksgiving holiday break before heading to play cross-county rival Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. The Wildcats have a 10-9 lead in the all-time series after securing a 75-69 win at Belk Arena last year on its way to a school-best 23 victories.
