Sanker Named SoCon Runner of the Month

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Capping off her record-setting month, junior Caroline Sanker has been named Southern Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Month for September, as selected by the league's head coaches.
Sanker earned two SoCon Runner of the Week honors in September, first for the week of Sept. 17. At the Asics/Winthrop Invitational, she finished first in a new school 5K-record time of 17:12 to lead the Wildcats to a first-place team finish for a second consecutive season.
Sanker picked up the honor for a second time for the week of Oct. 3, after besting her own school record with a time of 17:12 and finishing 11th overall at the Auburn Invitational. She once again paced her Wildcat teammates, this time to a third-place team finish in the field of 22, including No.14 Iowa and No.25 Florida. With an 11th-place finish, Sanker was named to the All-Invitational team for finishing in the Top-12 overall.
It is the third career honor for Sanker and the first monthly nod. The Wildcat women return to action this weekend, traveling to SoCon foe Furman for the Paladins' Invitational on Sat., Oct. 13.
