Stegger and Martin Named CCSA Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Winning a pair of titles each in a dual meet at Emory University on Saturday, senior Fiete Stegger and freshman Lindsey Martin have been named the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association's Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week for meets completed between Oct. 15-21, as announced by the league today.
Stegger finished first in the 100-yard freestyle and anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay, while Martin touched the wall first in the 50 free and also anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay.
In addition to a pair of titles, Martin set a pair of school records, besting her own record in the 50 free with a time of 23.93 and setting a new record in the 100 freestyle with a runner-up time of 52.17. Martin's times in the 50 and 100 free are currently tops in the CCSA.
Stegger clocked in at 48.49 in the 100-yard freestyle, good for second in the CCSA men's top 16 times. In the 400 freestyle relay, Frantz swam a split time of 47.62, as the team finished in a league-best time of 3:12.70.
Junior Scott Frantz was selected CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week of Oct. 15, the team's first of the season. Frantz won a pair of titles as the Wildcat women's and men's swimming and diving teams opened the 2007-08 season with a dual meet against the Pirates at Cannon Natatorium.
The Wildcat woman's swimming and diving team will host Georgia Southern on Fri., Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Cannon Natatorium and both the men's and women's teams will travel to Wingate the following afternoon for a tri-meet with Howard on Saturday at 1 p.m.
