Golf Places 19th in Fall Opener

LOVELAND, Ohio -- Freshman Adam Lewicki carded a final round 70 to lead Davidson individually as the Wildcats finished 19th at the 2007 Xavier Invitational. The 54-hole event was played on the 6,921-yard, par 72 Oasis Golf Club layout.
A native of Avon, Conn., Lewicki opened with a 79 in Monday's morning session, before carding a second round total of 73. Sitting tied for 77th overnight, the 2007 U.S. Amateur qualifier climbed 15 spots up the individual leaderboard with the Wildcat's only sub-par round of the event.
Junior Michael Saari recorded his second-straight 73 for a three-round total of 224 (78-73-73), while freshman Robert Mayo matched Saari's final clip with an even-par 72 Tuesday afternoon.
Other Wildcat competitors included David Fowler (73-77-79=229) and Robert Urso (75-80-80=235), who placed T-86th and T-96th, respectively.
Despite his club finishing tied for 13th in the team standings, Western Kentucky's Brent Long fired his third consecutive round in the 60s to claim individual medalists honors with a 54-hole total of 13-under 203 (68-67-68).
Marquette held on to its second round lead to win the team title with an 841 (-23), while Western Carolina and Campbell tied for second just two strokes back.
Davidson will continue its fall campaign Oct. 15 & 16 at the 2007 Savannah Intercollegiate.
