HANOVER, N.H. -- Senior forward Eleanor Cowley netted her team-leading, third game-winner of the season just over eight minutes into overtime to lift the Davidson Wildcat field hockey team to a 4-3 win over Maine on Sunday afternoon in the second of a three-game trip to Hanover, N.H.
Davidson improves to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in overtime contests this season, while Maine falls to 4-10.
With neither team able to find another goal in regulation, the battle moved to overtime, and Cowley's goal eight minutes in delivered the dramatic 4-3 win for the 'Cats.
Junior Brittany Rollek started in goal for the 'Cats and played the first period, while sophomore Christa Goeke went the rest of the way for Davidson.
Brooke Anderson, Jackie D'Amato and Amy Zdrojesky each scored for Maine in the contest, while goalie Maygan Cassarino started in goal and made five saves.
The Black Bears outshot Davidson 20-11.
Davidson wraps its three-game trip with a 1 p.m. matchup against New Hampshire on Tuesday.

Senior forward Catherine Ransone scored back-to-back goals to give the 'Cats an early 2-0 lead. Maine answered with a pair of goals to get the score knotted at the half, scoring the second on a corner with no time remaining in the period.
