CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Davidson sophomore Katurri Phillips broke her own school record in the indoor 200-meter dash with a time of 26.89 on Saturday at the Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill.
Placing 22nd out of 42 in the race, Phillips bettered the old Wildcat mark of 27.03, which she set at last year's Southern Conference Championship in Johnson City, Tenn., replacing a then eight-year-old record. Freshman Kimberley Colley and junior Jessica Chasen also turned in 200-meter times among Davidson's top five fastest ever at the meet.
Newcomer Caroline Sanker raced to an eighth-place finish in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:23.55, good for second on Davidson's top-10 performance list in the event. Classmate Emily King came in 11th. Meanwhile, sophomore Colleen McKown made her way onto the Wildcat top-10 performer list in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line 16th at 2:24.08.
Next weekend, Feb. 10-11, the Davidson women will compete at Clemson in their last regular-season indoor invitational before the SoCon Indoor Championship, slated for Feb. 24-25, in Clemson, S.C.
