Ian Kaplan earned the SoCon's wildcard bid to the NCAA Wrestling championships in 1998 and 1999, becoming the first Davidson wrestler to compete at the NCAAs since 1969. He was named to the 1998 and 2000 All-SoCon team. He was Davidson's second NCAA selection ever and the only two-time selection. Kaplan finished his career with a 98-31 record behind four 21-plus-win seasons. He twice (97-98 and 99-00) went 5-0 in SoCon regular season meets. He went 53-11 in dual meets, including a 14-0 campaign in 1997-98. Kaplan holds three of the top-10 single season individual records in Davidson wrestling history. His 1998-99 season ranks first overall at 21-3 (.875), his 1997-98 season ranks third at 27-7 (.794), and his 1999-00 season ranks sixth at 28-9 (.757). He won the Tommy Peters Award in 2000.
