Lindsey Boldt enters her third year with the Wildcats in 2013 after being named the assistant coach for the Davidson women’s soccer program on Apr. 4, 2011.
“I’m thrilled to have Lindsey join the coaching staff here at Davidson,” said Ashton. “She has played at a high level and taken that tremendous work ethic and expertise in goalkeeping into the coaching arena. She will concentrate on the continued development of our goalkeepers and also work with our defensive players. She has a passion and desire to continue to develop as a coach and I look forward to Lindsey making an impact on our program along the way.”
Boldt comes to Davidson after serving a year at USC-Upstate as the women’s soccer assistant coach. She coached goalkeeper Rachel Collins, who was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team and broke several USCU records as a first-year player.
Prior to her tenure at USCU, Boldt was a graduate assistant at Gardner-Webb for two years, earning a master’s in 2010 in sport science and pedagogy. Boldt helped develop two goalkeepers, who earned all-league honors as Chelsea Hearne earned All-Big South Second Team honors in 2010 after recording 101 saves and a 1.02 goals against average, and Sami Rupert was an all-freshman goalkeeper in 2009. Rupert started 12 of her 18 games as a freshman with 77 saves and a 1.10 GAA. That same year, Boldt assisted the team to its best finish in program history as a Division I program in 2009, going 12-9-0 and 6-3-0 in the Big South.
Boldt was responsible for goalkeeper training and game preparation at both USCU and Gardner-Webb as well as making sure all student-athletes met academic requirements. She also assisted with both the training of the defense and recruiting.
A four-year letterwinner at the University of Iowa as a goalkeeper, Boldt was a two-time recipient of the team’s Most Inspirational Award (2005 & 2006) and also earned All-Big Ten Academic honors three times: 2006, 2007 and 2008. She also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors in 2007.
Boldt’s senior year at Iowa saw her start the first 13 matches in goal for the Hawkeyes, before a season-ending injury ended her career. She still finished the season ranked fourth in the Big Ten in goals-against-average (0.86), third in save percentage (.810), and tied for fourth in shutouts (six). She had a record of 6-2-4, including six shutouts, and registered 47 saves on the year.
A 2008 graduate of Iowa, Boldt earned a bachelor’s degrees in both communication studies and sports studies.
