Daniella Pappas enters her second season with the Wildcat women's soccer program in 2016. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Pappas will work with the Wildcat goalkeepers and assist with the day-to-day operations of the team.
Pappas returns to North Carolina after a one-year stint at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa during the 2014 season. The Saints went 9-8-3 a year ago, including 7-1-2 at home, and advanced to its third straight Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) championship game. Under the guidance of Pappas, Ashford's keepers tallied eight shutouts and held the opposition to a 1.15 goals against average. Freshman goalkeeper Nyla Peterkin was named to the A.I.I. honorable mention after starting 19 of 20 games and earning all eight shutouts to go with 72 saves.
Pappas spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. During the 2013 season, Belmont Abbey was ranked 3rd in the Southeast Region, while earning an NCAA berth and a Sweet 16 finish. Goalkeeper Hannah Kohls was named all-conference first-team, Conference Carolinas Scholar Athlete of the Year, NSCAA All Scholar Southeast Region and NSCAA All Southeast Region under Pappas' direction.
Also during her year in North Carolina, Pappas was the head coach of a U13 travelling girl’s team through the Carolina Rapids organization. She was also part of the coaching staff for the U10 youth academy program.
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Pappas was a graduate assistant at University of Central Missouri were she coached under Lewis Theobald. During her two years their, she was responsible for training and coaching the goalkeepers. In her first season, the team won the MIAA Conference Tournament title and received a NCAA Berth. In Pappas' second season, the team finished runner-up in the MIAA Conference Tournament, but earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and advanced all the way to the Sweet 16.
Pappas earned a masters degree in special education at Central Missouri.
A four-year letterwinner at South Dakota State, Pappas played goalkeeper for the Jackrabbits from 2006-2010. She was defensive player of the week, Oct. 5, 2009 after a pair of 1-0 wins over Oral Roberts and Centenary. She also was named to the Summit League All-Academic Team. In 2008, Pappas helped SDSU to its first Summit League Conference Championship title in school history and then assisted the Jackrabbits to the second round of the College Cup in the NCAA Tournament.
Pappas has her NSCAA Goalkeeper licenses levels 1, 2 and 3, NSCAA National Diploma and holds her Iowa State High School Coaching license.
