Kara McHouell joined the Davidson athletic training staff in July of 2023 after two years as an assistant athletic trainer at Winthrop University working with women’s lacrosse. She provides care and coverage for the Davidson women’s field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams.

At Winthrop University, McHouell worked as a graduate assistant providing sports medicine coverage for the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams. Prior to Winthrop, McHouell was an intern athletic trainer at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa where she worked with the women’s tennis, men’s and women’s cross country, and women’s lacrosse teams.

McHouell received her Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Wingate University in 2018 and a Master of Science in sports and fitness administration with a concentration in sports management from Winthrop University in 2021.
