2009: Played in all 10 games • Posted 14 tackles and a tackle for loss on the season • Had six stops (1 for loss) at Elon • Recorded three stops vs. Morehead State and San Diego • Named to PFL Academic Honor Roll.

2008: Played in all 11 games on defense and special teams • Made 17 tackles for the season • Recorded two tackles and an interception at Lenoir-Rhyne • Had three tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup vs. Jacksonville • Made four stops against Morehead State and Valparaiso.

Prep Years: Four-year starter for coach Lou Cerro at Montour High School • Team captain as a junior and a senior • Unanimously selected first-team all-conference after setting a school record with 121 tackles • Honorable Mention all-state and first-team all-state academic • Named Fox Player of the Game at the WPIAL Championship at Heinz Field • Named GoArmy.com Player of the Game four times • Played on Montour’s first undefeated championship team since 1964 • Also lettered four years in tennis • National Honor Society and served as Treasurer, High Honor Status, Highest Honor Distinction.

Personal: Born July 9, 1989 • The son of Ernest and Sherry Ricci • Brother, Ernest, played football at Dickinson College • Father played football at Washington & Jefferson College • Gianni is the second student from Montour High School to play football at Davidson, joining Nick Dumich ‘71, who played in the 1969 Tangerine Bowl • Appeared on ESPN reality show Bound for Glory, which was filmed at Montour during Ricci’s sophomore season and ran for eight weeks on national television • Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus coached the team that season.
