‘Cats Split a Pair of Matches against Queens and VCU

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite a Friday evening 4-0 setback against conference foe VCU, the Davidson College men's tennis team rebounded with a 4-1 win over Queens Saturday afternoon inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
The weekend split gives the 'Cats a 2-2 record the begin the Spring Season, while falling to 0-1 in A-10 action.
The 'Cats dropped Friday's double point to the Rams, falling on the No.1 and 2 courts 7-5, and 6-4, leaving Kai Villagomez and Nikhil Mukherjee match unfinished.
The Rams made quick work of the No. 2 and 4 courts before Villagomez was overtaken in the No. 3 spot.
On Saturday, the Royals took an early lead, securing the doubles point after Charlie Ratliff and Davide Procacci were unable to mount a comeback in the No. 2 position.
The Wildcats rebounded in singles play, sweeping all four matches for the come-from-behind win. Procacci secured the win for the 'Cats with a three-set win over Noe Villen while Hidalgo, Villagomez and Carpio all won in straight sets.
Up Next
The Wildcats travel to Durham, N.C. next Saturday for a noon matchup against NC Central.
