
'Cats Take Down Duke In Four Sets

BOONE, N.C. – After dropping the first set 25-20 to Duke, Davidson posted a hitting percentage above .330 in each of the next three sets to earn the victory. The Wildcats took the second set 25-18, won the third set 25-17, and finished the job in the fourth 25-20. This is the team's first power-four win since Aug. 26, 2023 against West Virginia.
Anna Withee posted a season-high 14 kills and .545 hitting percentage. Seven of these 14 kills came in the second set. The .545 hitting percentage is her highest since Oct. 7, 2023 at Rhode Island. In Davidson's last two power-four wins, Withee has recorded 25 kills, only two errors, and a .676 hitting percentage.
The Wildcats trailed the Blue Devils 17-16 in the second set and then caught fire. Davidson won nine of the final 10 points in the frame. The Wildcats won the third set by eight points, which is their third-largest margin of victory in a set this season through nine matches.
Elena Garcia-Guerrios registered five kills in the fourth set and finished with 18 on the evening. With the addition of 13 digs, the junior logged her fourth double-double of the season. Also, Meile Songaila was the third Wildcat with double-digit kills. The sophomore had 12 of them.
Kinsey Smith was the primary setter in this match and picked up a double-double for the second time this season. The sophomore compiled a career-high 47 assists and had 12 digs.
