
Valmassei Receives A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship

WASHINGTON — Davidson senior Annica Valmassei has been awarded an Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
A chemistry major and two-sport athlete from Lake Lotowana, Mo., Valmassei is one of 14 seniors selected by the A-10.
In February, Valmassei won her second A-10 3-meter diving title with a score of 303.15 and then competed in the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships for the fourth time. She is a two-time A-10 All-Academic Team member and was recently named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American. She has earned three All-America honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Valmassei also competes in the pole vault with the Davidson track and field team and set a personal-best of 11 feet, six-and-a-half inches at the Charlotte Invite this spring.
Outside of athletic competition, Valmassei is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the prestigious honor society, and the Gamma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society. Additionally, she is active in Warner House and has served as a CatsCare mentor.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher, compete with distinction in A-10 championships for at least two years and have completed his/her athletic eligibility.
