Wildcats Top Youngstown State 4-1

DAVIDSON - The Davidson men's tennis team cruised to a 4-1 victory over non-conference competitor Youngstown State Thursday on the Davidson Tennis Courts.Â
The win puts the Wildcats overall record at 6-5 while its Atlantic 10 mark holds at 1-0 ahead of its next conference match.Â
"We played some really good doubles today and that carried over into our singles performance," said head coach Drew Barrett. "The guys competed very well."Â
The pairs of Nico Pinzon and Gregorio Hidalgo as well as Juan Camilo Perez Gongora and Uddayvir Singh kicked off the winning action for the 'Cats taking identical 6-2 doubles wins on courts one and two respectively to take the team point.Â
Perez Gongora carried his momentum onto the singles court, earning an impressive 6-4, 6-0 No. 2 victory to extend the Davidson advantage. Continuing a strong freshman campaign, former A-10 Rookie of the Week Davide Procacci also took a singles win, by 6-4, 6-4 triumph on court four.Â
The Wildcats were able to secure the team win with a Penguin player retiring on court three to seal a 4-1 team win.Â

Davidson will begin hosting its Spring Break matches, first welcoming DePaul to the Davidson Tennis Courts 10 a.m. Mar. 8.Â
