Putnam Named A-10 Player of the Week

WASHINGTON — After leading the nation in hits, home runs and RBIs over the weekend, Davidson's Eli Putnam has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The honor is the first of the year for the redshirt junior infielder from Cabin John, Md., and the second of his career.
"Put has been phenomenal the last few weeks," said coach Rucker Taylor. "He was a little limited in the preseason, and he's gotten his feet back under him. We're excited to see what he does the rest of the year."
In the weekend sweep of VCU, Putnam hit .800 (12-for-15) with two doubles, five home runs, 10 runs scored and 14 RBIs. He had a two-homer game on Friday, topped that with a three-homer performance on Sunday and went 4-for-5 in three straight games. Against the Rams, he carried a 2.683 OPS, including a 1.933 slugging percentage.
For the 3-1 week, which also included a midweek loss to N.C. State in Kannapolis, Putnam hit .765 (13-for-17) with a 2.487 OPS.
Putnam and the Wildcats return to action Tuesday when they host non-conference foe Gardner-Webb.
