Vokal Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON — Davidson pitcher Jacob Vokal has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The honor is the first for Vokal, a right-hander from Hoschton, Ga.
Last week, Vokal started at South Carolina and at No. 4 Clemson, combining for six innings of work. He allowed three hits, one earned run and struck out three.
"Jacob has been wonderful in a variety of roles," said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. "He's a competitive guy that has helped us tremendously. This past week, he was excellent in two road starts in great environments."
This season, Vokal is 0-1 with a 1.98 ERA and 0.95 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 13.2 innings. He's holding opposing hitters to a .188 average.
