Seven Personal Bests Highlight Dill Family Foundation Invitational

10/3/2025 1:09:00 PM | Men's Cross Country

GREENVILLE, NC – Seven Wildcats recorded a personal-best 8K time at the Dill Family Foundation Invitational on Friday morning. Five scholar-athletes finished inside the top-35 and featured two freshman, two sophomores, and one junior. Davidson finished third overall as a team behind High Point and Norfolk State.

"This was the perfect day," said men's cross country coach Andrew Allden. "It was a fast course with cool and dry weather. This was a very promising performance overall."

John Cooper led the way with stellar 24:24.37 mark in the 8K. His previous best time in this event was 24:41.20 last fall. Cooper is now the third-fastest Davidson runner in this event behind only Demetrios Pagonis and Ryan Hopkins.

"John was super aggressive today," said Coach Allden. "He tucked in behind two Norfolk State runners over the first couple miles and gutted it out at the end. He followed up on his aggressiveness. He has been ready to run this type of performance for quite a while. It was a breakthrough, but I still think there is a little bit more."

Freshman Quinn Swanton made his 8K debut and finished tenth overall. Swanton ran 24:44.86 this morning.

"This is one of the fastest freshman performances in school history," said Coach Allden. "I was hoping for sub-25 and he did even better than that."

Alex Thole was the third Wildcat inside the Top-20 finishing in 18th place. The sophomore ran 25:04.53. Two other personal bests came from Parker Bartell and Graham Boles. Bartell had a breakthrough race with a time of 25:33.19, good for a personal best as well. Boles, ran 25:38.54 in collegiate 8K debut.
