Couey Leads ‘Cats in Monterrey

MONTERREY, Mexico – Clayton Couey sits just inside the Top-25 after 27 holes to pace the Davidson men's golf team after day one of the Monterrey Collegiate Classic.
Unlike most 54-hole tournaments, the annual event hosted by George Washington features consecutive days of 27 holes.
The Wildcats' Davis Sayman is currently two-over, two back of Couey, who opened with a 72, which included seven birdies.
Nate Faulkner (+5), Owen Jessop (+10) and Alexander Paschall (+7) are also in the Davidson lineup, while Will Tharin (+5) is competing as an individual in the 71-player field.
UTRGV holds the top spot on the team leaderboard at 16-under. A-10 foes VCU and Richmond are seven off the pace.
