'Cats Record Nine Service Aces and Take Down Ramblers

DAVIDSON, NC – Behind nine service aces, Davidson took care of business against Loyola Chicago in four sets inside Belk Arena. The Wildcats earned their third conference win of the season.
Davidson trailed 14-10 in the opening set and responded in a big way. The Wildcats won eight straight points. Elena Garcia-Guerrios won the final two points in the set to give the 'Cats a 25-21 win in the first frame.
After Davidson dropped the second set 25-15, the team bounced back in the third. The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-3 advantage over the Ramblers. Ellie Ocampo recorded three kills during this run in the third set. The 'Cats closed the door in set three 25-13. That 12-point margin of victory is tied for the most in a set by Davidson this season.
The Wildcats won the fourth set 25-16. Ellie Ocampo recorded the final four points for the 'Cats with three kills and a service ace.
Mia Compas was a major part of the offense today with eight kills and a .700 hitting percentage. Ellie Ocampo matched her season-high with 10 kills on the afternoon. Elena Garcia-Guerrios posted a team-high 13 kills and 15 digs. That's the junior's 10th double-double of the season. Kinsey Smith and Ylame Dsamou combined for 45 assists. Cayla Weisner added five kills, .300 hitting percentage, and six block assists. Emma Slusser recorded seven kills.
Jordan Hummel was a big part of Davidson's dominance at the service line. The senior had a season-high three service aces.

The Wildcats are back home next Friday and Saturday against George Washington. First serve on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. and then 6 p.m. on Saturday.
