'Cats Take Third at Queen City Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Davidson College men's cross country team finished third at the Queen City Invite held at McAlpine Creek Park on Friday night. Sophomore John Cooper paced the Wildcats with a second-place finish.
Emory won the event as a team after their five best finishers all crossed the line inside the top 12 to earn an event-low 50 points. Davidson took third behind Cooper's 24:41.18 8K time which was just two seconds off the lead held by Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Parkinson at 24:39.25. Cooper finished second out of 100 other competitors and now has a first-place and a second-place finish under his belt in the first two meets of the season.
Senior Grahm Breiter turned in another top ten finish after completing the 8K course in 25:15.75 to take seventh. Rounding out Davidson's top five was Alex Thole (25:51.95), Daniel Cortese (26:04.80), and Eli Roth (26:16.86).

The Wildcats will have two weeks off before heading to the site of this year's Southeast Regional, Winthrop University, on Sept. 28.
