Berquist Wins 1500 with New Personal Record

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Anne Berquist won the 1500 meters with a personal-record time to highlight a number of impressive performances for the Davidson women's track and field team on day one of the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University.
A junior from Barrington, Ill./Charlotte, N.C., Berquist finished the 90-competitor event in 4:33.69, bettering her previous best by four seconds, to capture her first career outdoor title.
Hannah Casey, Grace Zagoria and Molly Sullivan also set new personal bests for the Wildcats Friday.
In the pole vault, senior Megan Burkholder finished runner-up with a season-best height of 3.79m (12-5 ¼). Zagoria also recorded a Top-10 showing in the event for Davidson with a jump of 3.49m (11-5 ¼).
Casey's PR came in the long jump (5.25m), while Sullivan got the day started for the 'Cats finishing third in the 3000-meter steeple with a time of 11:10.22, which was one second off a new program record.
Competition will resume Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with the women's 800 meters.
Davidson's outdoor season features seven straight weekends of competition in preparation for the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships, which will take place May 4-5 in Fairfax, Va.
